Michael Oswald

Michael Oswald was the co-founder and principal of The General Counsel, a firm that provides experienced in-house lawyers to work on-site at businesses in a variety of industries.

Michael was most recently Vice President and General Counsel of SRS Labs, Inc., a publicly traded developer and licensor of audio and voice technologies. Michael was previously the Vice President and General Counsel of Lantronix, Inc., a publicly traded provider of computer networking technologies. Prior to his public company experience, Michael was a key management team member at two successive start-up technology companies.

Michael was born in San Luis Obispo, CA, and grew up in San Jose. He went to college at U.C. Riverside (B.A., Political Science 1977) and law school at Santa Clara (J.D. 1980). He completed Dr. Frank Turek’s Cross-Examined Instructors Academy (advanced Apologetics training) in 2018.

Michael is married to the former Malia Cowans. They have two adult children and one grandchild, all living in Boise. Michael and Malia are members of True Hope Collister Church in Boise.

Michael was a part-time Professor of Law at Western State University College of Law in Fullerton from 2004-2007. He taught business law courses, served as Director of the Civil & Judicial Externship Program, and as Associate Director of the Business Law Center.

Michael was a member of the Board of Directors of Genesis Community Health Michael from 2013 to 2019. Genesis Community Health is a Boise-based nonprofit with the mission: “We express the love of Jesus Christ by partnering with people and communities to improve health and well-being.” Michael served as the Board Secretary for much of his tenure.

Michael Oswald is the President of Michael S. Oswald, Chartered, a professional corporation in Boise, Idaho. Michael has over 30 years of in-house corporate legal and management experience in aerospace, construction consulting, and technology companies. Michael has counseled on a wide variety of general business, government contracts, commercial contracts, employment matters, litigation, mergers and acquisitions and corporate compliance and governance.

Michael is admitted to practice law in California, Colorado (inactive), and Idaho.

Michael joined Ratio Christi, a campus-based ministry, in May 2021. He is founding a chapter at Boise State University. He is working closely with the Biblical Studies Center near Boise State in the launch of the new chapter.
